A former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed that renowned investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas was bribed with $400,000 to destroyed him (Nyantakyi).

According to Mr Nyantakyi who has been banned from all football-related activities by FIFA, his detractors at the GFA contracted Anas to pull him down through a setup.

 They were even demanding $400,000 because the project about me was a sponsored project. Some people in the GFA who were against me paid $400,000 to Anas to do that.” Mr Nyantakyi said on Net 2 TV Thursday.

He added that Anas demanded from him a bribe to kill the investigation on him(Nyantakyi).

They asked a lawyer who teaches at Legon, he knows him, he’s his friend. He contacted me and asked me to pay $150,000 and I said I didn’t have the money and that’ why all these hullabaloos.

Nyantakyi who is a lawyer by profession was captured in an investigative documentary engaging in corrupt and bribery activities. He was initially handed a provisional 90-day ban, which was later extended for 45 days.

“The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has banned Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level,” a Fifa statement of Tuesday reads.

“The adjudicatory chamber found Mr. Nyantakyi guilty of having violated art. 19 (Conflicts of interest), art. 21 (Bribery and corruption) and art. 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition.

“As a consequence, Mr Nyantakyi is banned for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level. Additionally, a fine in the amount of CHF 500,000 has been imposed on Mr Nyantakyi.

“The decision was notified to Mr Nyantakyi today, and the ban comes into force immediately,” the Fifa statement read.
