Despite the transfer window closing, the rumors and gossip are still extensive in the Premier League. Here’s a selection of the current transfer news and stories doing the rounds.
Liverpool targets Werner
Top target Timo Werner has been told to “trust his gut” as he thinks over his next move. Liverpool is one of several clubs ready to pounce.
The 22-year RB Leipzig striker has now been giving some advice by a team-mate. Emil Forsberg said: “He is the face of German football. But I can’t talk him into anything. He has to trust his gut feeling.”
Manchester United interested in Chiesa
Manchester United must beat off competition from Manchester City to land Fiorentina forward Federico Chiesa. According to reports in Italy, their neighbors are also plotting a move.
The 21-year-old is valued at €60 million, with Serie A sides Inter Milan and Juventus also said interested, Calciomercato tells us.
Liverpool plans for Grujic’s future
Liverpool plans to put Marko Grujic out on loan to a top European club next season. According to Bild, the 22-year-old is unlikely to remain with Hertha Berlin.
The Reds want him playing European football with Berlin ninth in the Bundesliga and unlikely to qualify.
Tottenham have added James Maddison to their list of homegrown summer transfer targets. Leicester star Maddison has been identified as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.
There are growing expectations around Spurs that the Danish playmaker will leave in the summer. Eriksen’s contract expires in 2020, and he has some suitors around Europe, including Real Madrid.
The north Londoners are long-term admirers of attacking midfielder Maddison, dating back to his days at hometown club Coventry.
Immobile won’t go
Liverpool has targeted Ciro Immobile, but it appears to be going nowhere. His agent says the forward will not be leaving Lazio anytime soon – even if Liverpool came calling.
Alessandro Moggi said, there was a very slight risk of him leaving. Lazio does not think to deprive itself of Ciro, who is very good for Lazio, it is normal that it can be followed by many clubs around the world.
“Should any offer arise again? I do not know if it will happen again, but without a doubt, it would be sent back to the sender.”
