Barcelona’s manager Josep Maria Bartomeu restates support for Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has suggested that the club intend to keep faith in Philippe Coutinho. The playmaker left Liverpool for Camp Nou at the start of 2018, and although 18 goals have been scored from 55 appearances, reports have suggested that the Brazilian could be sold in the summer.

However, Bartomeu has reiterated his previous stance on the matter, saying that Barcelona must continue to “trust” in their investment. Bartomeu told Radio Kanal Barcelona: “The club has taken another path, with Ousmane Dembele and Coutinho, it was a bet that must be followed.

Explicitly Bartomeu said, “They are the two biggest investments in the history of the club in signings, and we trust 100% in this bet.” Coutinho still has just under four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
