Asante Kotoko grants Dr. Jerry Newton leave request ahead of Al Hilal CAF Confederation Cup clash

Head of the Asante Kotoko Medical Team, Dr. Jerry Pratt Newton, has been granted permission to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

According to club’s spokesperson Sarfo Duku (Esq), Dr. Newton sent a formal leave request to the club on Monday.

Lawyer Duku added that the club has granted the doctor’s plea that takes effect immediately.

The communication director meanwhile did not readily open up on reasons behind Dr. Newton’s leave request, but stated that he asked for some free space to enable him further his education.

Dr. Newton was appointed and put in-charge of the club’s medical department at the birth of the current George Amoako-led Management that took office last year.

The appointment, which was made by Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei, marked the second coming for the physiotherapist, who also served under the erstwhile Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong and Samuel Opoku Nti administrations.
