Families of Manso Nkwanta victims to receive compensation today

The families of the seven Asawase youth who were shot and killed at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti region will receive their compensation package from government today.

The presentation will be done by the Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development at the Kumasi Central Mosque at 9am.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2018, the government announced a GHS 1.75 million compensation will be given to the affected families.

The announcement follows the findings of a seven-member government committee which established that the deceased were not armed robbers as was originally claimed by the police.

The killing of seven on July 7, 2018, triggered outrage and anger in Zongo communities in Kumasi with residents insisting on the innocence of the seven.
