Popular Ghanaian hiplife musician, Quophi Okyeame has indicated that Takoradi-based musician, Kofi Kinaata ‘s things fall apart needs to be nominated in the Gospel Song of the Year category in next year’s VGMA’s in a radio submission.
He described the song as a “marvelous” song that deserves to be put in the Gospel Song of the Year category.
“The words that proceed out of his mouth and the effect they have on society are in rhythmic rhyme with the book of life,” he said;
Quophi Okyeame made this known after Mark Okraku Mantey and Rev Abraham Lamptey began a debate on who a Gospel singer is and what a Gospel song is.
Mark Okraku in his submission stated that choosing songs for nominations is purely technical and has nothing to do with the message, whiles Rev Abraham was of the view that the message in a tune is basic in figuring out what a Gospel melody is.
In any case, Okyeame Quophi rushed to include that the message in ‘Things Fall Apart’ is the same as when Reverend met a lady who was attempting to go across the street, he got down and made a difference.
Okyeame Qupphi additionally included that Kofi Kinaata’s Things Fall Apart has the right to be considered for a Gospel Song paying little mind to the details.
“if we are talking about awards schemes and categorisation and trying to find the perfect definition of what gospel is then Kofi Kinaata qualifies for that particular song to be nominated as a gospel song,” he added.
