The National Communications Authority (NCA) has asked MTN to compensate all customers who got affected by its network challenges from December 1,2019.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the NCA, Joe Anokye , apart from the compensation package ,MTN has been directed to pay heed to some other obligations as well.

1.Ensure the immediate resolution of the challenges with your billing system and affected transactions

2.All losses to affected customers should be refunded accordingly

3.Compensate affected customers and inform them of the compensation package

4.Ensure that over 95% of all calls to your call centres are successful as required by your Licence.

5.Submit a report to the NCA on the issue.

The report should include;

a.An explanation why the Authority was not informed of this challenge

b.The full nature of the issue

c. The number of affected customers and the remedial measures taken

d.How the issue would be prevented from occurring again in the future.

The statement is also asking MTN to submit the report requested for within 24hours or else failure to do so would attract the appropriate sanctions.
