Imagine earning only GH¢250 a month but having to cater for eight dependents and yourself.
That’s the story of 24-year-old student and beautician, Alberta Bossman.
Alberta’s parents divorced when she was only a child. After the divorce, she and her other siblings became the sole responsibility of their mother.
Things got tough, and after failing to make it to Senior High School, she ended up on the streets.
She explains her mother became bitter towards them due to her painful experience in marriage and along the line, she stopped taking care of them.
That is how she assumed the responsibility of her eight siblings.
“I really wanted to do something for myself… Since I was the eldest taking care of my siblings, I have to wake up very early and cook for all of them, and make sure they are ready for school before I also go to school,” she said.
However, she got tired and on December 14, 2014, she ran away from home.
